A South Korean woman has been offered a little over US$4 in government compensation for the death of her brother during the 1950-53 Korean War, Reuters reported.

The woman was two years old when her brother was killed in combat in 1950, but never knew of his existence until told of his death by a neighbor.

The family had not received any compensation until April when the soldier's sister was awarded 5,000 won (US$4.33) under a law in effect during the war.

       据路透社报道，一位韩国女子有个哥哥在1950-53年的朝鲜战争中阵亡，日前她仅得到了4美元多一点的政府赔偿。

       1950年哥哥阵亡时，该女子只有两岁，但是直到邻居告诉她哥哥阵亡的事情时，她才知道自己还有个哥哥。

       直到四月份，这家人才收到赔偿款。根据战时的某法律，战士的妹妹被判予5000韩元（4.33美元）的赔偿金。

       国民权益委员会称该决定“不可理解”，敦促政府对决定进行重审。
