The British Great Expectations design exhibition will be held in Beijing from Oct. 10 to 19, showcasing over 100 examples of world-leading technology and designs from the UK.
The exhibition, created by the British Design Council, is another major event from Think UK which aims to bring the best of British originality, creativity and innovation to China.
Think UK is an arm of the British government and British Council and functions as "an initiative to provide greater access in China to creative and innovative ideas from contemporary Britain and strengthen links between young people in the two countries", said Keith Davies, first secretary of the British Embassy and deputy director of the British Council.
Davies said the exhibition's central design concepts are based on the importance of dialogue and two-way contact in any successful relationship.
At the exhibition, the visitors will find themselves sitting down at a 20 meter long dining table, set for a banquet, featuring exhibits and video screens -- a literal feast of innovation. Visitors will be encouraged to sit at the table and hear more about exhibits through speakers built into the tables and chairs and through computer screens.
The exhibition that covers various fields is organized by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, the China International Exhibition Agency and the Beijing Industrial Design Promotion Organization.
