'Think UK' Aiming at Partnerships
Think UK, an initiative to show people in Shanghai the creative and innovative ideas from Britain and build rewarding partnerships between the citizens of the two countries, was launched on Wednesday by Sue Bishop, new consul general of the United Kingdom.

Think UK includes a series of activities that will bring noted British innovators, performers and personalities to Shanghai to share ideas in education, business, technology and the arts. Scientists, sculptors and writers from the two countries will team up for the activities and events.

Bishop said concerts, exhibitions, and discussion forums will be held so that more people in China will be able to discover the fields in which the UK is a leader.

Between July 14 and 18, 15 British scientists will visit Shanghai to meet with their Chinese counterparts to discuss their work and interested fields, including biosciences, bioinformatics and genomic research. The event will consist of a two-and-a-half day conference, followed by visits to research centers, institutes and universities in Shanghai.

The assistance of the Royal Society and the Research Councils in the UK, as well as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Natural Science Foundation in China made the project possible.

The initiative is being led by the British Embassy and British Council.
