Cab Alliance to Hit on the Road

A new taxi union will make the debut next month in Shanghai, city's taxi administration said Wednesday.

The union, the seventh cab group in city, is to help local small cab companies to survive the competitive taxi market by resetting and enhancing their brand image, said the cab authority.

Previous to the union was the Blue League. The other main cab groups include Dazhong, Qiangsheng, and Jinjiang.

Eighteen of local's 300-plus taxi companies out of the six largest groups are selected to be the union members after passing a series of examinations in services, the Youth Daily said.

Bosses from these companies are in negotiation for the union's image color. The union picked lemon yellow as the color of their cabs, but it may change for another color more eye-catching as it said the yellow hue is not attractive.
