One-third Beijing Residents Lack of Exercise

About one-third of Beijing residents admit that they rarely take physical exercises.

According to a survey made by the Beijing disease prevention and control center, about 33.44 percent of the 1,000 surveyed said that they are away from any physical exercise, Wednesday's "Beijing Daily" reported.

However, those who take exercise actively are mainly aged people. Especially to those over 60, exercise has become an important part of their daily life.

Most residents prefer exercises such as fast walking that don't involve any facility and place.

Most of those surveyed only know that lack of exercise may cause obesity, but have no idea of other drawbacks.

Major causes for residents away from exercises include too much work, housework burden and lack of correct guide.
