International Youth Winter Camp Opened in South China

An international winter camp for international youth, the second of its kind, was opened in the provincial capital of Hainan, China's southernmost, tropical province Tuesday.

One hundred and twenty-six young people, mostly foreign nationals of Chinese origin, from 17 foreign nations and regions, have joined the program, together with over 70 local high school and university students.

The eight-day program has the theme "searching for our roots, Chinese culture and education, and youth from the world and Hainan meeting in the new century", according to the organizer.

A series of educational and recreational activities will be conducted during the eight days.

The program is sponsored by three local bodies responsible for issues concerning overseas Chinese. Last year, 105 students from 11 countries and regions participated in the first international students' camp in Hainan.
