Local residents in Shanghai were encouraged to give ideas and suggestions to city officials on supervision of food safety and sanitation during the week, Shanghai Evening Post has reported.
The city kicked off last Saturday a weeklong publicity about food hygiene, which was part of a nation-wide campaign conducted by the Ministry of Health. The theme of the week this year was "consumers' participation needed for food safety".
In the city, local residents were organized to visit sanitation supervision and inspection departments and were expected to give their opinion and idea about how to improve the efficiency of food supervision.
Managers of some six local enterprises, among the first group of enterprises announced by the Ministry of Health for qualified food production, held discussions with local consumers about how to improve food hygiene.
