Ethnic Hope School

The photo shows that ethnic pupils learn embroidery at a girl class of the Sishui Hope Primary School in the Ethnic Shengge Autonomous County, southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region October 29, 2001.

China's "Hope Project" is a public welfare project initiated and developed by China Youth Development Foundation from October 1989 which aims to help children of impoverished regions continue their study in primary schools and improve the education environment in there areas. In the over 10 years, 1.78 billion yuan donations have been used to construct more than 7,000 Hope Primary Schools and helped more than 2 million children back to school.
