China Publishes Letters, Poetry by Late Chinese Marxist

The People's Publishing House has published collections of letters and poetry, respectively, written by Hu Qiaomu (1912-1992), an outstanding Marxist theorist and social scientist of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The Collected Correspondence of Hu Qiaomu, which includes 435 letters he wrote between 1945 and 1992, embody his achievements in Marxist theory, journalism, publishing, arts and literature, language, philosophy and other disciplines.

The collection will provide rich resources for students of the history of the CPC and the People's Republic of China, experts say.

The Collected Poems of Hu Qiaomu includes 110 poems, in which he expresses optimism and devotion to Communism, and lauds his country and people.

The same publishing house published Hu's reminiscences in 1994, recollecting the time he served as secretary to Chinese leader Mao Zedong from 1941 to 1948, and a collection in 1999 of 264 of his essays and speeches.
