Zhongguancun High-Tech Park, dubbed China's Silicon Valley, will expand north in the Haidian District, Beijing, to add more areas for further development, according to government officials of the district.
Under the government's plan, area of the expanded part, called Haidian new area, will cover 221 square kilometers, larger than half of Haidian.
In addition to the existing information technology center and the software park in Zhongguancun, the Haidian government plans to set up an education and training center in the new area in three to five years and add four more technology parks by 2005.
The entire expansion project will be completed by 2010, according to the officials.
