The trade in technologies and expertise reached 11.2 billion yuan (US$1.35 billion) last year in the Zhongguancun Science Park, known as "China's Silicon Valley," up 23.55 percent over the previous year.
Among these transactions, 6.2 billion yuan (US$747 million) worth of technologies were bought by people from other parts of the country, according to the administrative commission of Zhongguancun.
It indicated that Zhongguancun had become the country's high-tech distribution center, officials with the commission said.
Zhongguancun has over 10,000 high-tech companies, mostly small ones, and these firms are playing a big role in utilizing high-tech achievements made by Chinese scientists.
Hundreds of China's top research bodies, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, are located in and around the Zhongguancun area.
