Beijing People Confident of Successful Olympic Games

Beijing made an investigation of its residents about their feelings and ideas on the occasion when Beijing succeeded in getting the right to hold the Olympic Games in 2008.

The investigation shows that 97.7 percent of the Beijing people are confident that Beijing will hold a great Olympic Games in the history. About 68 percent of the people who were investigated thought that they were “very confident”.

“What kind of work does Beijing need to do urgently after it succeeded in getting the right to hold the Olympic Games?” Two thirds of the residents thought that Beijing must continue to govern its environment, reflecting the stronger environmental awareness of the Beijing people.

About 9.2 percent of the residents thought that Beijing must try its best to develop its economy. Some 7.2 percent of the residents thought that Beijing must build stadiums of good and high quality.

Except the above-mentioned three tasks, 20 percent of the residents thought that Beijing should make a good job of the construction of spiritual civilization, indicating that the citizens have confidence in the construction of the infrastructure of the Olympic Games.

“What is the most important factor of the success in the bid for the Olympic Games?” Some 72.7 percent of the residents thought that it was the increase of the comprehensive strength and the development of the social economy of Beijing.

About 11 percent of the residents thought that the governing of Beijing environment had succeeded. About 9 percent of the residents answered that the activities of the bid for the Olympic Games were organized very remarkably.
