An overloaded minibus plunged 40 meters (130 feet) into a ravine in northwest China on Friday, killing 14 people and injuring 17 others, state media said.
The 19-seater bus had 31 people on board when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip over and slide into a ravine on a mountain road outside Ankang city in the province of Shaanxi, the official Xinhua news agency said.
Rescue workers brought the injured to hospital, it said, but gave no further details.
China has a dismal road safety record. Traffic accidents killed around 94,000 people last year despite a relatively low number of cars on the road given China's huge population.
