Sports Lottery Beats Welfare Lottery

It is getting colder but the fever covering the sports lottery is still on rise. Long queues waiting to buy lots can be easily found everywhere in Beijing, which establishes a special scenery in this metropolis. As the top prize piles up and after rules changed that sports lottery is cast twice a week, the sales surge dramatically. Lottery fans thus call for a larger number of selling boxes and wider expansion of such service.

While the sports lottery sing triumphant songs, the welfare lottery steps toward another extremity.

Beijing welfare lottery industry reports 75 million Yuan of sales against its 110 million Yuan expected. The selling curls drop rapidly. City Baby car and 180,000-Yuan prize lost their temptations. Unlike the enthusiasm in the past few years, Beijing welfare lottery has run into a sliding and embarrassed condition.

According to the economic analysts, average investors and consumers belong to the "risk-avoider" type. In addition a few people fall into the category of "risk-lover" or neutralism. Welfare lottery just contains great uncertainty. A sensible investor would take related actions to avoid risk concerning his income background.

Compared with traditional types, the sports lottery wins such advantages as decentralized selling sites and no suspicion of cheating. Therefore it has attracted a flood of people from its debut at the beginning of this year. Some uncaring citizens have turned to be professional lottery pursuers.

A survey indicates that 53.4% of the people prefer choosing the numbers by themselves, and 25.5% make their decision by themselves or random. Furthermore 54.3% of the surveyed like to watch the whole process of drawing lottery on TV which convinces them of its fairness.

Unlike bonds and national securities whose profits must be obtained in a long term, or stocks which require solid economic base and strong ability to face considerable risks, sports lottery is a government-supported economic behavior with small input and high percentage of award.

Professor Wu Shaoping said whether the sports lottery can maintain the sales record depends on its level of sales management and the standard of game rules.
