Chinese Folk Music to Be Performed in UN Hall

China Radio Nationalities Orchestra made meticulous selection and preparation for their coming performance. The concert will be graceful and pleasing, impassioned and ebullient, while full of sedateness and elegance. It will show the profound cultural traditions of the Chinese nation.

The orchestra will give a full play to its general performing style and the performance of Chinese traditional musical instruments such as erhu (two-stringed Chinese fiddle), jinghu, suona horn, lute (pipa), etc.

At the concert musicians will present a series of Chinese folk music pieces of different styles, including classical Chinese folk music "Flowers and Moonlit Night over Spring River" and "Moon Reflection in No 2 Spring", primitive and bold music from northwest China "Love to the loess", songs from the south of Yangtze River "Harvest Song", music of minority nationalities "Dance music of Yao Nationality" and "Happy news from Beijing reach outlying village", and music larded with Chinese characteristics "Night Thoughts", "Celebration Overture" and "Festival Night".

Peng Jiapeng, chief conductor of China Radio Nationalities Orchestra and famous young Chinese conductor, will lead the orchestra in the performance. He has led the orchestra to the stage in the Golden Hall of Vienna twice. His ebullient conducting style received appreciation from audiences Chinese and foreign alike.
