Pianist Comes Back

After living in Europe for 10 years, pianist Du Taihang decided to resettle in Beijing and now he is preparing for his first concert since his return, to be held on June 16 at the Beijing Concert Hall.

Despite playing a concert every two weeks when he was in Europe, Du confesses he feels pressure in preparing for his China homecoming performance.

The reason? He plans to play two challenging concertos in one concert: Liszt's "Piano Concerto No 1 in E flat major" and Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No 4 in G major."

While living in Europe, he has given about 300 recitals and concerts with orchestras throughout Europe and Asia. He performs regularly at international music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holsten Music Festival in Germany, the Salzburg Festival in Austria and the Asiago Music Festival in Italy.

"I'm interested in the communication between two cultures," Du says. "I think I can help Chinese students with my knowledge of Western culture."
