Kung-fu legend Jackie Chan visited Shanghai Wednesday to set the stage for seven Hong Kong films that will be screened during the upcoming fifth Shanghai International Film Festival. He also delivered a brief morality lesson.
"I didn't bring a film of my own to Shanghai because I'm here instead to promote Hong Kong productions," said the action hero.
"I hope the local audience will enjoy the different styles in these films, as they range from artistic to action movies," he said.
The one-week festival, which begins on June 9, has attracted nearly 301 films from 39 countries.
"I've seen the rises and falls of many movie stars in my 40 years in the film industry," he told reporters. "My secret to success follows my life principles.''
"In my movies there are no graphic violence or sex scenes. I believe a healthy image is beneficial to our next generation and is a shortcut to winning an audience both at home and abroad," he said.
