The Chinese government is fully aware of the harm caused by fake and shoddy products and will take concrete measures to eliminate such products, a senior anti-fake product official said Wednesday.
The recent decision by the State Council to launch a nationwide campaign to fight against fake products fully demonstrated the confidence and ability of the government in this regard, said Li Chuanqing, director of the China Anti-Fake Product Office, at a forum here on anti-fake product efforts attended by foreign-funded enterprises.
Li, also director of the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, said that during the campaign, China will shut down all enterprises that produce fake products, and severely punish the producers and the officials that support them, to create a fair and secure market environment for all enterprises.
Over the past 20 days, China has hunted down fake and shoddy products worth 200 million yuan and placed over 1,600 cases on file for prosecution, while also taking 110 suspects into custody, he said.
