Youngsters in Beijing now have access to sex education both inside and outside schools. China's younger generation knew very little about sex education in the past. However, the country has been encouraging the sex education in schools when China began to introduce the policies of reforms and opening to the outside world.
"Knowing something about sex will help youngsters avoid problems relating to sex and grow up more healthily," said Xiang Chunxiang, director of the Beijing Education Center on Family Planning.
Official figures says that there are some 100 middle schools in Beijing that offer sex education courses.
Boys and girls can also go to various sex consultants or hotlines offered by related organizations for help. In the Beijing No. 25 Middle School, students can receive classes on physiology in junior grades and classes on love, marriage and family in senior grades.
