Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing met Monday with Yoshikawa Hiroyuki, president of the International Council for Science (ICS).
Li and Hiroyuki, who is also president of the Science Council of Japan, had a cordial conversation on issues of mutual interest.
The International Council for Science, established in 1931, is the largest non-governmental organization in the international science community, aiming to promote worldwide academic exchanges and people's awareness of science.
Zhou Guangzhao, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, attended the meeting.
Hiroyuki is visiting China at the invitation of the China Association for Science and Technology.
