China Anti-cult Association held its first national symposium Wednesday in Beijing to discuss the theory and practice involved in the fight against cults such as Falun Gong.
About 150 experts and scholars from China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the anti-cult association are participating in the two-day symposium.
He Zuoxiu, vice director-general of China Anti-cult Association and also a scholar with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), released a statement drafted by the association todenounce the Falun Gong cult.
More than 50 papers and working reports were submitted to the symposium, focusing on the differences between religion and cults,and the psychological makeup of Falun Gong practitioners.
About 30 participants from throughout the country exchanged their experience in rehabilitating former Falun Gong followers.
They proposed that China Anti-cult Association and its local branches nationwide should encourage all of society to fight against the cult.
