National Library Promotes Popular Science

China's National Library began Sunday to hold a special service week to promote popular science.

Information desks were set at the gate of the National Library Sunday morning and its head, as well as those from 15 major libraries in the provincial capital cities were present providing consultation services.

A lecture was given by Min Guirong, academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering, on the topic of aerospace technology.

In the days to come, five other experts from the State Development Planning Commission, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and City Polytechnic of Hong Kong will also give lectures on popular science in the National Library.

Special services will be offered to children and the elderly during the week, and nine popular science movies including the "DISCOVERY " series will be shown.

In addition, a list of selected popular science books and an exhibition of ancient books will be posted on the website of the National Library.
