Lee Kuan Yew, senior minister in the Prime Minister's Office of Singapore, visited Saturday the exports processing zone of the Suzhou Industrial Park in east China's Jiangsu Province.
Lee was accompanied by vice-governor of the province Wang Rongbing, and Chinese assistant to foreign trade Minister Ma Xiuhong.
The processing zone, in the city of Suzhou, is one of the first processing zones approved by Chinese central government.
It was set up in April last year with a planning area of 2.9 square kilometers. So far, 44 hectares of land in the zone has been developed.
Enterprises in the zone enjoyed preferential policies involving customs, taxation and foreign exchange control.
