The People’s Bank of China announced Friday that it would issue a set of gold and silver commemorative coins featuring the giant panda, renowned as China’s national treasure, as of January 20.
The set includes six gold coins and two silver coins. The front side of the coins features the design of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of the Heaven of Beijing, while the reverse side features the giant panda and bamboo forests.
The coins, with the exception of the one kg silver coin, will be issued in domestic and international editions.
