A Chinese court has turned down an appeal by a bogus doctor who got 15 years in prison for causing the deaths of several of his patients, Beijing Morning Post said on Sunday.
Hu Wanlin, from Mianyang City in southwestern China's Sichuan Province, was arrested in central Henan Province in 1999 after several of his patients died.
Hu opened medical facilities in several hospitals across China despite holding no registered qualifications, and three people, all from Henan, died as a result of his treatment between December 1997 and October 1998, according to previous reports.
The Shangqiu City Intermediate People's Court sentenced Hu to 15 years in prison and fined him 150,000 yuan (US$18,000) in September last year.
In turning down Hu's appeal, the Henan Higher People's Court said the sentence was not too severe, since his actions had led to the deaths of several people.
