China's Trade with US in First Half Year

Following are the facts and figures about China's major import and export commodities from the United States in the first six months of 2001, released by the General Administration of Customs.

Overall imports: 12.513 billion U.S. dollars, up 17.9 percent from same last year period.

Machinery, audio and video products and accessories: US$ 5.274 billion

Optical, medical instruments and meters: US$1.151 billion

Chemical products: US$1.138 billion

Plant products: US$1.025 billion

Pulp, paper products and cardboard: US$560.644 million

Plastics and rubber products: US$643.321 million.

Total exports: 25.027 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.0 percent year on year.

Machinery and electronic products, audiovisual equipment and relevant parts and accessories: US$7.946 billion

Miscellaneous products (furniture, toys, lamps, etc.): US$3.420 billion

Footwear, headgear, umbrellas, feather, artificial flowers: US$3.002 billion

Textile materials and products: US$2.164 billion

Base metals and related products: US$1.661 billion

Plastic, rubber and related products: US$1.240 billion.
