The Ministry of Public Security said on Sept.19 that by taking advantage of DNA technology, Chinese police have helped 418 abducted children find their parents.
During the April-July period this year, China conducted a nationwide campaign against trafficking of women and children, with the help of advanced means such as information networks and DNA technology.
Zhu Yantao, a senior police officer with the ministry, said that such large-scale application of DNA technology is the first time in the police sector worldwide.
The ministry has invested dozens of million yuan to establish a DNA data bank, Zhu said.
