Online Travel Sites Gaining Ground

China's travel websites, who are providing tough competition for traditional tour agencies, have also been popular at the International Tour Trade Fair 2000 for their detailed online information and efficiency.

According to the webmaster of www.chinagc.com, travel shoppers are drawn by the exact and prompt information provided on the Internet and the favorable prices offered by the travel networks, usually 20 percent to 30 percent less than the standard prices of tour agencies.

During the four-day fair, representatives of hotels and tourist sites have signed cooperative agreements with the travel agencies.
