Western Tourism to Be Developed Rapidly

10 provinces and autonomous regions in west China, including Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet Autonomous Region, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Xijiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Gansu and Qinghai, are facing an important tourism development opportunity, due to the country's west development and special supports for western tourism. And Zhang Xiqin, vice director of State Tourism Bureau emphasized the opinion too on the opening ceremony of Three Gorges International Tourism Festival. He also said there would be 4 favorable elements to stimulate western tourism development.
These are: 1) State Tourism Bureau is formulating " Program of 10th Five-Year Plan for Western Tourism" and it will be included in State Council's "General Program of West Strategy". 2) State will grant 0.8 bln RMB national debt to support fundamental construction of key scenery spots with 0.6 bln RMB for western regions. 3) Western tourism is the key in State Tourism Bureau's agenda. This year's largest domestic tourism trade fair is in Urumqi, Xinjiang and next year's first tourism exhibit will be in Chengdu, Sichuan. He said, west China as well as east China paid much attention on western tourism. 4) State Tourism Bureau is implementing talents training plan for western tourism and the training for poor and remote area is free.
According to Zhang Xiqin, west China possesses rich tour resources with 50 percent of the whole country's natural landscape and artificial resources, including Leshan Buddha, Three Gorges, Dazu Stone inscriptions, Potala Palace, etc. And all the western provinces have already treated tourism as their key industrials.
