Statistics show that minority ethnic officials make up a large proportion of the provincial total in Qinghai, northwest China.
At present, 75 percent of the Party and government officials in the province’s six autonomous prefectures are from minority ethnic groups, while 64.3 percent of officials in the province’s seven autonomous counties also come from various minority ethnic groups.
Minority ethnic groups account for 42 percent of the province’s total population.
The province attaches great importance to improving the performance of minority ethnic officials. A great number of them have been sent to study at training programs held in the country’s interior areas or have been sent to study overseas.
