Boeing Debuts New Model

Boeing's newest model 767- 400ER, which is on a world tour, arrived on August 5, 2000, in Shanghai after a show in Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The plane arrived at the Hongqiao International Airport and began a live flight demonstration. The plane will later fly to Beijing and Haikou, capital city of South China's Hainan Province in the next few days.

The aircraft can accommodate 375 passengers and fly a distance of 10,460 kilometers without refueling. The tour will take the plane to 17 cities and four continents. Since 1972, China has spent US$14.9 billion on 341 Boeing planes. The country is expected to purchase another 1,790 planes in the next two decades, at a cost of some US$137 billion.
