Tibet to Hold First Folk Arts Lantern Festival

The Folk Arts Lantern Festival is to be staged from August 6 through October 18 in Lhasa, Tibet, and it is the first time the city holds such an activity.

Sponsored by the Lhasa municipal government and full of Tibetan flavor, the festival is to display 25 groups of lanterns, featuring national unity, dragons and other themes, according to the organization committee of the festival.

The Exhibition of Natural Resources of the World Roof is also to be held during the festival. People will have opportunities to look at such rare wild animals as Tibetan antelopes, wild yaks, wild donkeys, black-neck cranes, the organizer said.

Other activities include the beer festival, Tibetan folk costume show, and Tibetan instrumental performance.
