Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to China Kwon Byong-hyon signed an agreement in Beijing Thursday morning to regulate fisheries between the two countries.
The Fishery Agreement between the two governments is a provisional arrangement on fisheries before the delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) between the two countries with opposite coasts, said sources with the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"It marks a new development of relations in the fishing sector, " said the sources. "It will be important to the protection of fish resources, the stable development of relations in the fishing sector and to the development of the bilateral relations between the two countries as a whole."
In another development, China decided to lift its two-month ban on importing mobile phones (including vehicular mobile sets) and polyethylene from the ROK as of Wednesday after the two countries reached an agreement on garlic trade.
