A a logistics park will be built to serve China's longest railway line from Beijing to Kowloon in Hong Kong, and a foundation laying ceremony was held Sunday in Dongguan city of Guangdong Province,south China.
The park is located at Dongguan Railway Station, where three major railways meet,including the Beijing-Kowloon line.
The convenient transportation network of railways, highways and waterways makes it possible for the park to be able to cover areas such as Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta.
Zhou Huaju, a local official, said modern logistics systems will be introduced for the construction of a logistics market for goods produced in east, north and central China to flow into the Pearl River Delta.
Covering an area of 50 hectares, the park has a railway cargo station and a highway cargo station, which will be able to handle 2.8 million tons and 700,000 tons, respectively, a year. There will also be large distribution centers,wholesale markets, exhibition centers and financial institutes.
