According to the policies issued June 5 by "Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC)", those 1st-rate travel agencies in Taiwan Province operated for over five years, may receive tourists from China's mainland in a controlled number of visitors and in the way of "group entry and exit", sources from Taipei say.
For the moment, tourists from China's mainland are allowed to visit Taiwan in a controlled number but the number will by and by be increased. At the very beginning this can be carried out on a small scale but must have certain scope in economy.
As reported, a plebiscite published by Taiwan's MAC on the same day indicated that some 64 percent of the people in Taiwan agree to receive tourists from China's mainland, and over 66 percent think it can increase Taiwan's tourism income, promote cross-Straits exchanges, thus vitalizing Taiwan's tourism and relevant industries.
