A zone specially designed for universities and colleges is under construction in this capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.

The Xiasha University Park,covering more than 10 square km and the biggest in the province,is designed to accommodate 15schools of higher learning and 120,000students on campus.

The 7.7-billion-Yuan (US$927million)project is expected to be completed within the next five years.

Construction of the first phase of the university park,covering 4 square km,is in full swing,and the second phase of the project,which will cover more than 6 square km,will start next year,according to sources.

The university park is located inside the Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.
