Australian Lowline cattle, one of the best breeders in the world, has been introduced to southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
By using embryo transplant technology, farmers in Hezhou of Guangxi, will see the first imports of 29 Lowline cattle propagate to a larger number and crossbreed with locally bred cattle, according to Jiang Hesheng, an animal husbandry expert.
"Australia is free from Mad Cow Disease, and compared with local cattle, Lowline cattle grows bigger and faster," Jiang said, explaining why Guangxi welcomes the new cattle strain.
The subtropical region with 1 million hectares of meadow and 30 million tons of stalk fodder enjoys the advantages of developing the animal husbandry. The cross-bred cattle is expected to greatly improve the quality of the industry.
