interdependence, sense of common purpose and cooperation among
APEC member economies. The red color illustrates the dynamism
of the regional economy as well as the important role that the
APEC region plays in the world economy. "嶄忽"(China)
in traditional Chinese calligraphy represents China's APEC Chairmanship
in 2001. Its insertion into the globe speaks of its determination
and confidence in integrating into the world economy and meeting
new challenges in the new century.
