Beijing fringe festival salutes the Bard in 2016

A total of 12 plays by William Shakespeare were staged at the Beijing Fringe Festival in September this year to mark the 400th anniversary of his death. A play based on Shakespeare's sonnets was among them, and the other works included "Romeo and Juliet," "Twelfth Night," and "The Taming of the Shrew." All the plays were directed by young artists.
