Editor's note: A variety of activities have been held across China in 2016 to mark the 400th anniversary of the deaths of the Chinese playwright Tang Xianzu (1550-1616) and his British counterpart William Shakespeare (1564-1616). Here China.org.cn selected 10 of the activities held in China to pay homage to the two creative geniuses and for fans to recall sweet memories of their works.

The British Council and the GREAT Britain campaign launched the "Shakespeare Lives" program on Jan. 28 to celebrate the works and influence of the world's most performed playwright. It is a global campaign and China is a vital part of it. (Read more)
