Ministry of Health Press Release (June 19) on SARS

The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Thursday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland.

From 10:00 am June 18 to 10:00 am June 19, the Chinese mainland reported no new diagnosed or suspected SARS case, 24 patients recovered and discharged from hospital, and no death. Patients recovered included 17 from Beijing and 7 from Shanxi.

From 10:00 am June 18 to 10:00 am June 19, Tianjin reported 19 misdiagnosed suspected cases, Guangdong reported 2 misdiagnosed suspected cases, and Beijing and Sichuan each reported 1 misdiagnosed case.

Now 186 diagnosed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals on the Chinese mainland, including 152 from Beijing, 17 from Tianjin, 4 from Shanxi, 3 each from Liaoning and Guangdong, 2 each from Inner Mongolia and Shanghai, and 1 each from Guangxi, Chongqing and Sichuan.

The Chinese mainland reported 24 suspected cases, including 10 from Tianjin, 8 from Inner Mongolia, 3 from Beijing, and 1 each from Liaoning, Guangdong and Xinjiang.

According to the statistical standard of the WHO, by 10:00 am June 19, provinces on the Chinese mainland reporting SARS cases within 20 days included Beijing, Liaoning and Sichuan. Beijing had reported no new diagnosed case for 8 days. Liaoning had reported no local transmission and no new diagnosed case for 16 days. Sichuan had reported no local transmission and no new diagnosed case for 13 days.
