The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday called on all the party members, servicepersons and civilians to get united under the leadership of Kim Jong Un to make 2012 a year of prosperity for the country.

In joint calls issued by the WPK's Central Committee and Central Military Commission on the occasion of the centenary of birth of late leader Kim Il Sung, the WPK called for turning sorrow of the demise of top leader Kim Jong Il into "thousand-fold strengthen and courage" to enhance the political and military power of the country, the KCNA news agency reported.

The calls also urged enhancing the militancy and leadership role of the WPK and more thoroughly establishing "the monolithic leadership system of Kim Jong Un" in the whole party and society.

Kim Jong Un is the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.

The WPK calls underscore the need to make a decisive turn in the efforts to build an economic power and improve people's living standards, said the report.
