Strong earthquake jolts north Japan

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake jolted north Japan's Urakawa Oki at 7:25 p.m. local time, according to Japan Meteorological Agency.

The epicenter was initially measured to be at 41.7 degree north latitude and 142.8 degree east longitude, with a depth of 30 km.

No tsunami alert was issued and no injuries were reported so far.
