Afghan security forces, backed by NATO-led Coalition forces, during operations, have killed 10 armed insurgents and captured 30 other suspects over the past 24 hours, Afghan Interior Ministry said on Sunday.

"Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan army and Coalition Forces launched 20 joint operations in surrounding areas of the Kabul, Nangarhar, Faryab, Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, Uruzgan, Wardak, Ghazni, Khost and Paktia provinces over the past 24 hours,"the ministry said in a statement.

"As a result of these operations, 10 armed insurgents were killed, one wounded and 30 others were arrested by ANP," it said.

A handful of weapons were also found and seized by joint forces, according to the statement.

Afghan officials often use the word "insurgents" referring to Taliban, however, the insurgent group has yet to make comments.

Afghan and NATO-led coalition forces keep up pressure on insurgents all over the country as over 290 insurgents had been killed and around 430 detained by joint forces in October alone, according the Afghan Interior Ministry.
