Gun shots and blast were heard close to Loya Jirga or grand assembly venue in the Afghan capital Kabul on Monday.

A security official said a suicide bomber attempting to target the site of Loya Jirga was identified and gunned down by police.

However, local television channel Tolo reported that a suicide bomber who wanted to strike the vehicle of the Interior Minister was shot dead by police.
