A Russian military cargo plane crashed on Tuesday in an area in the country's southwest near Moscow, leaving all the 12 crew members dead, the Itar-Tass news agency reported early Wednesday.
The Antonov plane crashed in the border area between the Tula and Oryol regions around 9:30 p.m. (1830 GMT), said the report.
The remains of the burning aircraft were discovered at 2:36 a.m. Wednesday (2336 GMT Tuesday) at a site 100 km south of Tula and the crash was due to a failure of aviation equipment, particularly an engine failure, said the report.
A rescue team has arrived at the crashing site, the report added.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the An-22 plane was enroute from Voronezh to Tver.
