Chavez discussed several international issues with Fidel, particularly the serious risks of nuclear war. He acknowledged Fidel's role in "achieving a universal awareness to prevent a conflagration of incalculable consequences to mankind."

Fidel shared passages of his new book "The Strategic Victory" with Chavez.

Afterwards Chavez met with President Raul Castro and reviewed the development of bilateral political and economic ties. Chavez left Cuba on Wednesday afternoon.

Official statistics show that trade between the two countries reached 3.138 million U.S. dollars in 2009. Caracas, capital of Venezuela, supplies Havana with 100,000 barrels of oil daily while receiving services from about 30,000 Cuban doctors and experts in other fields.
