The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Monday confirmed the death of Abu Baqir, a dual-hatted Taliban sub-commander and al-Qaida group leader.
The ISAF said in a press release that a coalition force airweapons team engaged Baqir's truck in Kunduz province Sunday, killing Baqir and another insurgent.
The airstrike occurred after the insurgents attacking a local police station, said the press release.
The strike also wounded several other insurgents, said the ISAF press release, adding that security forces detained two of the injured insurgents at hospital.
