Chanel Fall 2010

The clothes, a fresh mix of oversized sweaters and trompe l'oeil rompers matched the models' lighthearted attitude: carefree, fun and irreverent. Nathalie Rykiel, the daughter of the house's founder, said the collection was conceived "for a woman who's strong, smart and has a sense of humor."

Nathalie Rykiel, designer, said, "What I mean is basically, is that it's for a woman with soul, That's what I told the models. Show your soul on the runway."

Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato showed a fall-winter collection inspired by her travels to Turkey. Chisato visits different places for each of her collections to get her creative juices flowing.

Chisato always works in a nod to her Japanese roots too, continually stamping her collections with manga and samurai prints of some variation. This time, the designer used a varied color palette to bring an Istanbul flavor to the catwalk.

Black and white stripes were inspired by Turkish nomadic tents. This year marks Tsumori Chisato's 20th anniversary as a brand, after beginning her own line in the early 1990s, after starting with Issey Miyake in 1977.

Stella McCartney's fall/winter ready to wear collection focussed on simple lines and sharp tailoring. It featured linear cashmere coats, over-sized striped dresses in cream and black, plus short shift dresses with bold front pockets. Jackets featured floaty sleeves, giving the tailoring a feminine touch. The collection's color palette varied from grays and creams to vibrant reds and purples.

Paul McCartney said his daughter "makes women look great."

Paris Fashion Week runs until Wednesday March the 10th.
