The south garden of the Olympic Forest Park in Beijing has welcomed over two million visitors since it opened last October. It's also become a major tourist site. The north garden is scheduled to open this October.
The attractions of the south garden are landscapes and flowers, while the north garden is totally wild fun. It's a reserve of trees and birds. Nearly 2000 trees of 176 species have been brought from other Chinese cities. The star of the bird reserve are Beijing's own barn swallows. They have their own pavilion. A 100-thousand square meter sunflower garden is now under construction. During the National Day holiday, the Olympic Forest Park will be fully open to the public, from 6am to 8pm.
